ART JOURNAL-recycled jeans

Well to make an ART JOURNAL page for a challenge is not very interesting to make if we DO NOT have an ART JOURNAL right?...Well here we go on ANOTHER crafty adventure...after looking at a few youtube videos...I came across a fantastic and easy way to make a journal...not only...it had a little cover made of recycled jeans...(did someone say..." RECYCLED" jeans?)...it was quite simple and very easy to make...(easy peasy...no fuss)...


I used 10 sheets and scored them in the middle...clips are used to keep pages aligned.

Remember to leave a few extra inches of jean fabric to be able to FOLD over cover.

FRAY edges...

Measure one inch from bottom and one inch from top...and find the MIDDLE.  The tutorial says to PUNCH holes first then thread ...(I preferred using my CROP A DILE to make holes)...Line up holes and also punch your jean cover.  Start sewing from the OUTSIDE...leaving enough thread to be able to eventually close the flap.  Start from the MIDDLE....outside of the cover,the take thread and go through the TOP hole and go to the BOTTOM hole and then bring through the MIDDLE again and go back to the OUTSIDE of cover...at that point tie a firm knot. Take a nice button and sew over the outside flap to close journal.  (I EMBELLISHED as I wished). 

Notice how the journal is knotted from the outside...as shown on top of picture...I used "cooking twine"...I made flower embellishments with my Big Shot using the TATTERED FLORALS die (656640-tim holtz).

First I stamped on jean fabric,with Stazon and cut the letters out with my WORD PLAY die (657837-tim holtz).

Opened flap...I used my glue gun to add on letters (I left enough room for the flap in case my ART JOURNAL book expands...

I think this JEAN FLOWER EMBELLISHMENT is so lovely...

To create some DIMENSION to the letters...I also recycled clear plastic packaging and made some letters and glued them together (fabric and plastic letters)...and hot glued them on.



Ladies and gentlemen...here is what I created my FIRST ART JOURNAL or...a CHALLENGE-SFIDA...now,I can participate to ANY art journal challenge...(no,I am by no means an ARTIST)...but I enjoy being able to CHALLENGE myself!  It keeps my mind BUSY,CREATIVE AND FULL OF WONDERFUL COLORS!!!...h.
